Small Sir...

Henry has started dancing and it is seriously the funniest thing ever! He used to just bounce his legs up and down, but now he started this arm thing and I can't get enough of it!! This is just a tiny clip because he usually gets embarrassed when he sees you watching him, but he does this all day long. L.O.V.E

We also do a lot of this now. Don't mind the mess, that's just what happens after supper. :) He has to do it himself and don't even think about helping him!

Long time.. no blog!

So for some reason or another I fell off the blog train and I haven't updated since Father's day, and by my calculations, that was well, quite a while ago. We have been busy getting through Dan's summer semester, which equals lots of mommy- Henry time while daddy studies up to figure out how to save the world, one uninspired teacher at a time. That Mr. Mourlam is going to do great things I tell you. Well, H and I sure think so.

This is pretty much what our living room looked like all of June. Laptop plugged in, boring grad school books, and little Jon books piled everywhere.

Random cute shot of small mr.

The fourth was pretty much crap this year. We tried to do as much outside time as we could on the third since it was supposed to rain all day the next day and it sure did. H had to take a quick nap on Grandma Sue's couch to refuel. He is always very concerned he is going to be missing out on something.

Mr. Independent and Gma B going for a walk. Don't even think about holding this guys hand. He goes into melt down mode pretty quickly which involves going to his knees and throwing his head back. Not his finest moments.

We went up to visit Grandpa Don while we were back too, but for some reason this is the only picture I have. We must have taken the others on his camera.  Henry wore his John Deere shirt just for his Uncle Josh!

Henry also colored for the first time! Well by color I guess I mean he tapped the crayon on the paper a few times and then stuck it in his mouth. Baby steps...

Dan needed to take and updated picture for the school calendar so we figured why not take one with his trusty side kick while we were at it.

We also did Henry's first hair cut! He looks so tiny with that huge cape on! Please note his supper that he threw on the floor next to him. Why eat when you can put it on the floor. I ask myself the same thing every meal.

Before

Again..

After! It was rather traumatic for all involved, but we survived and whether he likes it or not, we will be doing this on a regular basis for quite some time so he better get used to it.

Mohawk!

We also have been doing wagon rides in the house since it is so crazy hot lately. We do a few laps with Bongo, then we toss him over the side and have some cheerios, a few more laps, and then in and out of the door about 50 times. Can't wait until fall weather!!

We also had an awful storm that brought down one of our trees on top of our house and landed in our front lawn. It damaged quite a bit of our roof and broke out a window on the side that left us with this....

mess. This happened at about 1 in the morning. I woke up to the loudest thunder I had ever heard (which was actually the tree falling on the house) followed by glass shattering and then the tornado whistle all within about a 5 second span! It was awful! I grabbed my phone and Dan ran in to get Henry from his room and we flew down to the basement for the longest time while the wind howled and it poured upstairs.  Got the all clear whistle and headed back up and used our laptop as our flash light to figure out which window broke and found some old boxes in the front porch to put over the window. We were with out power until the next morning at about 7 am. Woke up at 3am to the sound of the city pushing our tree from the road back into our lawn. They are saying it was a straight wind storm which is basically a tornado without the rotating wind. You can trace a exact path of where it when through town and destroyed the trees in it's way. It look all of the next day to get everything cleaned up. All of Henry's toys had glass on/in them and almost looked like they were covered in sugar the glass was so fine. Such a mess.

Smashed roof

This family had 3 huge evergreens completely uprooted.  Crazy.

We are pretty much just back to busy ball popping now. Henry has started dancing in the last 2 days and it is the funniest thing ever! It mostly consists of him bouncing up and down a few times and shaking his butt a little. Love. it.

We still haven't had his 15 month check up, we got rescheduled for a few weeks from now (when he will be 16 months) but whatever. We will work with it.

Mr. Daddy.

Happy Father's Day my love.  Small Jon and I can't get enough of you and love you so very much. You are an amazing dad to Henry. So patient and understanding when you two are seeing who is more headstrong, or just working on mooing. :) I love the look on Henry's face when you lay down the blanket on the floor to wrestle, love the sound of his laugh when you tickle monster him, love the way he snuggles his big melon into the crook of your neck when he falls asleep. I love being on this journey with you and can't wait to see what is next for us. -mp

Oh really?

Here is a quick shot of what The Big is up to these days. He likes to point his finger at you when he ba ba ba's as to tell you he thinks you are great... or..... doesn't quite like the answer you have come up with. I love this guy.

Here he is one year ago today :)

Randomness

We have been a busy family since our last post. Lots of time in the car, which isn't our favorite- but to see our people I guess that is what he have to do. Here is a quick recap of a few of our events.

Going to the park in Cherokee by the swimming pool. Henry was pretty nervous when we first got there as there were quite a few big kids. Once he got used to it, we couldn't get him back in the wagon to head home!

Going across the bridge at the park.

Too much fun- couldn't make it home awake!

Went back to Belmond for Jenna's graduation party and ceremony. Henry had to supervise Jenna to make sure she got her graduation cap on correctly. Please note the child hazard of extension cords....Eeek!

Went to Grimes to play with H's friend Kallen while I got my hair cut. They played outside with Kallen's water table and had a blast!

Here they are last time we got them together. So cute!

Went to eat at Cheesecake Factory for Dan's early birthday celebration. We had such a fun time! Henry tried fried mac and cheese and somewhat liked it. He mostly ate puffs and delicious bread from the basket.

My loves...

Went swimming on Gma B's deck. Could have cared less about the pool and liked to sit outside of it most of the time. This is about the only picture I got of him in there. Maybe he will like it more next time.

Took a few rides in the sparkle mobile! He held on to the steering wheel and honked the horn this time. Too funny!

He decided tonight that he needed to run his wet pea and corn hands through his hair and ended up with this crazy do. Silly Billy!

Henry also had pink eye last week and I managed to escape it all week until the weekend of course when the clinic wasn't open to get more drops. Nice.
