A Whale of a Good Time!

Henry had his first big boy bath tonight in his whale tub! He wasn't too sure what to think at first, but once we got him all the way in the water, he had a great time! Mom and Dad enjoyed it too - much more relaxing than the loud (aka Henry screaming at the top of his lungs) sponge baths.

Mr. Boppy

Henry spent some time sitting in the boppy this morning giving mom's arms a much needed break. :) All is well here with us, Dan went back to work yesterday and Henry had his second doctor's appointment. We found that he gained a pound (in a week) and is now up to 9lbs 2oz. and 21 inches long. Everything looks good and we go back in 2 weeks for his 1 month checkup. That sounds so surreal to say already!

Henry Jon Arrives...

Katie began having some hard contractions around 3:45 am and woke me up around 4:45 so we could begin counting them. After about a half hour we called the hospital and they told us to come in to be checked out. Initially we weren’t sure if she was in labor, but the more regular the contractions became, the more we thought she might actually be in labor. After getting to the hospital, the nurses hooked her up to some monitors and checked everything out. She was 3-4 cm and having regular contractions. After talking to the doctor, who was turkey hunting, they decided the baby was going to come today and she was officially admitted. I called the parents, all of whom were very excited, and waited with Katie for the doctor to come and break her water. After giving Katie some fluids and subsequently breaking her water, she received her epi and was a new woman. With the pain gone and the bottom half of her body numb, Katie and I settled in for the long haul and watched some TV. After a few episodes of What Not to Wear, Katie took a short nap and I went home to pick up some stuff we had forgotten, as well as eat some lunch. When I got back, Katie was just starting to rouse and we went back to watching some TV. A little while later, they checked Katie, who had progressed to about 8 cm.

After a few more hours, they checked Katie again and she hadn't gone any further so she was started on Pitocin, but after a few more hours, they decided to go with a c-section since it would take many more hours before baby could come out. Soon thereafter, they prepped Katie for surgery and at 6:55 pm, Henry Jon Mourlam was born.

Henry weighed 8lbs 2oz and is 20 1/4". Here are some pictures:

Shower with the Ladies

I had a super fun shower thrown by the bank ladies on March 14. We played baby bingo, tried to remember our nursery rhymes, opened gifts, and snacked on some delicious delicacies!
